Westchester County Judge Bar-bara Zambelli and Grenburgh Town Judge James Hubert were nominated by Democrats last night to run for a pair of county judgeships in November. Party leaders made the nominations at a meeting at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains. The Democrats also tapped Janet Jordan to run for Westchester Family Court.
Zambelli, 55, was elected in 1997 and is seeking a second 10-year term. She is a former Mount Vernon City Court judge who now lives in Eastchester. Hubert, 54, will run for countywide office for the first time. He has been a town judge since 2004and served on the Greenburgh Planning Board before that. He is running to fill the seat by Judge Sam Walker, who was elected to state Supreme Court last year. Jordan, 42, lives in New Rochelle and is support magistrate in Yonkers Family Court.
The nominations were unanimous once other contenders withdrew their names from consideration – Susan Capeci, Ron Stokes, Barry Warhit and New Rochelle City Judge John Colangelo in the County Court race, and Hal Greenwald, Arlene Katz and Michelle Sauer for Family Court. Republicans will pick their candidates at a party convention Monday. The GOP is expected to nominate Charles Devlin for Family Court, but Chairwoman RoseMarie Panio would not discuss potential candidates for County Court.
